Hand hammered flexible dome cuff bracelet... you won't believe the shine and shimmer that each hammered mark creates in this cuff. The flexibility creates a comfortable light piece that will never lose its shape.
This gorgeous 14k yellow gold hand crafted bracelet is made using the synclastic technique of hand metal work.
As a result of this technique, the bracelet is very strong and springy. You open it up to slide it over the side of your wrist and it springs right back into shape!
Metal does not want to bend this way so it must be gently persuaded with the hammers. No molds or castings are used. The metal is not hammered into a pre-shaped form but rather formed freehand over the stakes.
Because of the technique the metal becomes very work hardened, which makes it very strong and very springy.
Many courses or passes are required to deform the metal into the desired shape. After each course the metal must be annealed (softened by heating), to restore its workability.
This bracelet is hand-made in Maine and is signed by the artists.
If you straightened and flattened the bracelet out it would measure 7 1-2" (190mm) long by 17mm wide.
As you are wearing it, it measures 64mm outer edge to outer edge, outer width across your wrist or 57mm inner edge to inner edge, inner width across wrist (the difference of 7 mm is the depth of the domed shape of the bracelet). For the height as you are wearing it, it measures 55mm outer edge to outer edge, bottom of wrist to top of wrist and 49mm inner edge to inner edge, bottom of wrist to top of wrist (again, the difference is the depth of the domed shape).
Also, remember it is quite flexible, so it will comfortably fit a larger wrist as well, just more snugly.
