This gel fuel wood substitute is an all natural, jelled alcohol that is 100% efficient and ecologically sound. Each can burns for two to three hours and can be reused until empty. A can of Real Flame® jel produce up to 3,000 BTU's an hour.
Since there is no chimney, all the heat stays in the room, giving 100% heat efficiency. Gel fuel is primarily decorative and not recommended as a regular around-the-clock heating device. It is handy in a power outage or other emergency, however.
The cost of burning a can of fuel is approximately $1.04 per hour; most people burn 2-3 cans at once. This is comparable to burning a duralog in a regular fireplace.
